Governor Barasa Demands Urgent Release of Sh27 Billion Owed to Counties
Governor Barasa has urged the National Treasury to urgently expedite the disbursement of Sh27 billion owed to county governments to enable them to effectively meet their financial obligations.
Speaking in Mumias East, he said counties are facing serious financial strain after receiving only Sh23 billion out of the Sh50 billion that had been proposed as a supplementary allocation to counties under the County Government Act of 2025.
The governor emphasized that timely disbursement of the remaining funds would stabilize county operations and ensure that essential services reach wananchi without interruption.
