NGAAF Brings New Year Cheer to Drought-Hit Mtsemerini Village with Food Aid.
Hundreds of residents of drought prone remote Mtsemerini village in Bamba ward, Ganze Sub County in Kilifi County have a reason to smile after they received food donations from National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) director Ruth Bendera to celebrate the new year.
Bendera who was accompanied by her family members, travelled to the needy after getting reports that the villagers had no food and could not enjoy the new year due to drought and famine that has ravaged the area.
Speaking during the food distribution exercise, she thanked President William Ruto for initiating the Broad-based government with the late ODM Leader Raila Odinga saying that it had brought unity and peace in the country and created job opportunities.
“President Ruto through the broad-based government has a planned to put a huge dam in Galana Kulalu and another in Ganze that will help residents of Malindi and Ganze Sub Counties practice irrigation farming and mitigate the effects of drought,” she said.
She said that Kilifi County had benefitted largely from the Broad-Based Government including the appointment of Principal Secretary for Youth and Creative Economy Fikirini Jacobs, Cabinet Positions among other top national government jobs.
“It is also through the broad-based arrangement that our son Fikirini landed a lucrative government appointment and we must support this government even beyond 2027 so that more of our people can be absorbed in senior positions in government,” she added.
She asked residents of Kilifi County to reject those leaders who were rallying for their own parties instead of embracing the broad-based government.
Japhet Charo a resident of Mitsemerini village thanked Bendera for her generosity by choosing to help vulnerable families to enable them celebrate New year.
