Kingi Details Strategic Move Behind Dissolving PAA and Aligning with UDA
Senate Speaker and former Pamoja African Alliance party Leader Amason Kingi has revealed reasons why he folded his party and joined the ruling United Democratic Alliance party.
While addressing UDA aspirants in Ganze Sub County, Kilifi County, Kingi is also the former Kilifi Governor said that he made the decision after an assurance from President William Ruto that the PAA manifesto will be implemented under UDA.
Kingi had for some time confused PAA supporters after he made a move without first seeking their opinion but on Saturday, he explained that he met Ruto in Statehouse Nairobi in the company of some party officials who anonymously agreed to join UDA.
“Party supporters have been asking why I brought them PAA in 2022 but now I am preaching UDA. I want to tell you people of Ganze that George Kithi and Kenneth Kazungu came here calling you to elect them on a PAA ticket but after the 2022 general election we started conversations with President Ruto to join his party and he gave us an example of Magarini constituency where UDA and PAA split votes allowing the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidate to be announce winner with only a difference of 21 votes,” he said.
He added that Ruto told them that the Magarini case was a case study that needed not to repeat itself in 2027 hence the need to have one party.
“We told the president the PAA was not only a name but a political and economic liberator of the region and what plans he had with eth aspirations and all leaders including Aisha Jumwa, Lucas Maitha, George Kithi and Kenneth Kazungu were all there and he assured us that he will incorporate the PAA manifesto with that of UDA and after getting that assurance, it is when I told my members to fold the party and join the president and in 2027, all our PAA candidates will vie under UDA,” he added.
The speaker also thanked Ganze residents for upholding the PAA spirit by voting for two out of four MCA seats and the MP seat on the party ticket adding that all those had now decamped to UDA.
“Ganze was the PAA stronghold and you made us proud but in 2027 all candidates who aspired to vie on the PAA ticket will do so under UDA,” he said.
During the event, Ganze ward MCA Karisa Ngirani who was elected on an ODM ticket decamped to UDA claiming that Governor Gideon Mung’aro who is the chairman of ODM in Kilifi County had failed residents.
“I am the only MCA who was elected on an ODM ticket in Ganze constituency but I want to tell you today that next year’s general election this Ganze will be yellow and this is because Governor Mung’aro has failed to offer leadership and my governor candidate in 2027 will be Aisha Jumwa,” said Ngirani.
Jumwa on her part tore into Mung’aro’s leadership saying that he had done nothing developmental to the people of Ganze Sub County and that the only success story associated with him was the impeachment of former Kilifi County Assembly speaker Teddy Mwambire.
“The Governor of Kilifi County has done nothing developmental for the people of Ganze and the only thing he did and succeeded 100 percent was impeaching Teddy Mwambire,” she said.
