Governor Fernandes Barasa has condemned the disruption of President William Ruto’s meeting in Emurua Dikirr, where a group of goons armed with arrows disrupted the gathering.
Speaking while addressing residents of Likuyani, Governor Barasa urged Kenyans to shun violence and desist from allowing themselves to be used to disrupt political meetings.
Barasa said political differences should not be a reason for resorting to violence, calling on residents to maintain peace and allow leaders to engage with the public freely.
He spoke in Likuyani during the issuance of social protection grants to various groups across the sub-county.
The Governor delivered a total of KSh 5 million to 100 groups across the five wards of Likuyani Sub-County under the County Government’s Social Protection Grants Programme.
The programme targets women, youth, persons with disabilities and widows, with the financial support aimed at strengthening their enterprises, improving livelihoods and enhancing economic empowerment.
Barasa said such programmes were intended to directly improve the welfare of vulnerable households while promoting self-reliance among beneficiaries.
